Setup Story
This project started as a quick challenge: stand up a small but real Kubernetes environment at home and get the first service online fast. Within roughly an hour, the cluster was running and the first webpage was already reachable.
Infrastructure
The cluster combines cloud and homelab hardware for flexibility and cost control:
- Hetzner VPS for reliable external hosting.
- Lenovo laptop (16GB RAM) as an on-prem node in the cluster.
Networking with Tailscale
Tailscale provides secure mesh networking between nodes, making private connectivity simple without exposing internal cluster traffic directly to the public internet.

Next step: Deploy more services on top of K3s.
