Setup Story
This project started as a quick challenge: stand up a small but real Kubernetes environment at home and get the first service online fast. Within roughly an hour, the cluster was running and the first webpage was already reachable.
Simple Cluster
I built a working K3s cluster in about one hour using a Hetzner VPS and an old Lenovo laptop with 16GB RAM, connected securely through Tailscale.
This project started as a quick challenge: stand up a small but real Kubernetes environment at home and get the first service online fast. Within roughly an hour, the cluster was running and the first webpage was already reachable.
The cluster combines cloud and homelab hardware for flexibility and cost control:
Tailscale provides secure mesh networking between nodes, making private connectivity simple without exposing internal cluster traffic directly to the public internet.
Cluster: Up and running
First webpage: Online
Next step: Deploy more services on top of K3s.
